2018 BASIC SCHEDULE FOR BUS TOUR AND SEMINAR

Friday, November 2nd will feature an optional bus tour of Forbes Road. This year’s tour will leave Jumonville Friday morning at 7:30 am and proceed east for stops led by Douglas Cubbison and Phil Light at the remnants of Fort Dewart and the site of Washington’s Friendly Fire encounter of November 1758. From there the bus will proceed to Fort Ligonier. The tour will include dinner and access to Fort Ligonier and its new art gallery. The cost for this year’s bus tour is $150/person and includes continental breakfast at Jumonville, a boxed lunch at Shawnee State Park, dinner at Fort Ligonier, and all admission fees. Space is limited so sign up now. Please note that Friday dinner at Fort Ligonier is not included in the Seminar Only Registration. The Friday evening event at Fort Ligonier is reserved for those taking part in the bus tour. However, the buffet dinner and evening program can be added for a cost of $30. After dinner, the tour returns to Jumonville at 7:00 pm for a reception in Wesley Hall offering light refreshments, the first look at vendor displays, and a short program at 8:00 pm.

Saturday sessions will begin with discussion of the recent Historic Structures Report that Doug Cubbison completed concerning the state of the earthworks at Fort Necessity, and archaeological evidence that raises new questions about them. Brian Reedy will introduce the session. Peter Stark is a distinguished writer and will be speaking on his new book titled Young Washington. Martin West will discuss his book on the 1764 Bouquet Expedition released last fall. We will conclude with Dr. Stephen Brumwell, whose new book about Benedict Arnold was recently released. Cost for the Saturday seminar is $100.

Saturday sessions will include the following:


New Questions about the Earthworks at Ft. Necessity

Doug Cubbison will team up with archaeologists from Indiana University of PA to discuss the recent Historic Structures Report that Doug completed concerning the state of the earthworks at Fort Necessity, and the archaeological evidence that raises new questions about them. Brian Reedy will introduce the session.


Young George Washington

Peter Stark is a distinguished writer, and has been on the NY Times Best seller list. Hs new book is due out in May, 2018 titled “Young Washington.” He is from Montana.


1764 Bouquet Expedition

Martin West has will speak on his book on the 1764 Bouquet Expedition that was released last fall.


Benedict Arnold

We will conclude with Dr. Stephen Brumwell, who has a new book out on Benedict Arnold.

REFUND POLICY: There will be no refunds granted within two weeks of the start of the event.


Optional lodging arrangements at Jumonville are available in the Washington Lodge.  
You will have the option of lodging for Thursday night, Friday Night, and/or Saturday night.
